Technological
Concerns
for accessing
on-line training

MTC is a distance educational organization delivering training via the internet. In order to receive training from MTC, the following technological needs are required of end-users:

1. A broadband internet connection such as DSL, cable modem, T-1.
A dial-up connection is not recommended.

2. A late-model computer with Windows 2000 or XP.
(or equivalent for Apple users)

3. A head set with earphones and mic.

4. Optional: web-camera.

5. If a group gathers around a single connection, (eg. a church group viewing a workshop) a powerpoint projector and speakers are recommended.

6. Some classes will be held on gotomeeting.com where audio will be over a telephone.

The on-line classrooms are easily accessed:

1. Call up this web site (www.missiontrainingcenter.com) in your browser.
2. Click on the "Current Course Info." page from the navigation bar.
3. Find the currently offered course you wish to take and click on the link indicating the appropriate on-line classroom.
4. When the classroom comes up, type your name in the "log-in" box and click on "log in".
5. Click on the audio/visual box and a window will appear allowing access to your mic and camera.

6 . Information about the course and required documents can be found under the specific courses listed on the "curriculum" page of this web site.
7. Special conference rooms for congregational resources will be available through advanced arrangements with the providers.

Troubleshooting Tips:

If you are a first-time user, you should open the classroom on the browser ahead of time to see if things are working correctly. If you have any technical problems or questions, contact Chris Born, the MTC Technician, at kitborn@aol.com

1. From time to time, your browser may freeze up. This is generally a local problem which can be rectified by the refreshing your browser. After you refresh, you will need to re-enable your audio.
2. If you loose transmission altogether, telephone the instructor or technician (the numbers should be given at the beginning of the first class) for instructions.
3. If you speak over the internet, it is best not to use the automatic transmitter, but to speak while holding down the audio button. The automatic transmission is for the instructor or someone making a prolonged presentation.
4. When you log in, make sure you enter your name, otherwise you will be listed on line as "your name" and the others will not recognize you.
5. Do not click on the video box, this will capture the video for your machine and the instructor will not be able to broadcast his video. In some classrooms where there is two-way video, you may be seen if you click on a video box.

Sometimes classes will be held over gotomeeting.com
