Rel 234 - The Christian Faith A systemized study of the chief teachings of the Christian faith as presented in the Holy Scriptures and confessed in the Lutheran church. 3 hours

Rel 115 - The Literature and History of the Old Testament The faith and life of the covenant people of the Old Testament, as influenced by social, cultural, economic and political factors.
3 hours.

Rel 120 - The Literature and History of the New Testament The life and teachings of Jesus Christ and the origins, growth and progression of the Christian message within the Apostolic Church and the society of the first century in the Christian era. 3 hours.

Rel 351 - Religion in America An historical analysis of Judaism, Roman Catholicism, Eastern Orthodoxy and diverse forms of Protestantism in American culture. Indigenous communities and utopian enterprises will also be examined. Special attention is given to American Lutheranism. 3 hours (not required for DELTO)

Rel 241- Lutheran Theology and Practice: Leading Worship The Biblical mandates and practices as well as the confessional and historical context of worship are examined, along with the exploration of substance and style. 3 hours.

Rel 242- Lutheran Theology and Practice: Pastoral Care An introduction to the pastoral ministry. Defines the Office of Public Ministry and explores selected areas of pastoral relationships, practice and the cultural dimensions of ministry. 3 hours.

 

Rel 243- Lutheran Theology and Practice: Leadership in a Missionary Age Leadership Development Multiplication of ministries depends upon the identification and equipping of leaders to maximize the impact of the gospel of Jesus in the world. 3 hours.

Rel 390A- Principles of Biblical Interpretation A basic course in how to approach the scriptures. Recognizing that cults and sects can make the scripture say anything they want it to, this course teaches how orthodox Christian doctrine is drawn from the Bible.
3 hours.

Rel 390B - Teaching the Faith. Basic Catachesis will equip the student to teach the basics of the Christian Faith and the Lutheran Distinctives in a simple, yet systematic way.3 hours.

Rel 390C - Early Church History to 1500. Traces the history and faith of the Apostolic age, the development of the church and church history through the medieval period. 3 hours.

Rel 290 - Proclaiming the Faith. Exegesis, techniques content and presentation prepares for the preaching the Christian message.
