ENROLL NOW IN FT.WAYNE DELTO
For those who would like to continue in the DELTO program, the Ft. Wayne Seminary is willing to continue a few more cohorts. In order for them to do so, they will need to know how many students are planning this course of action. Therefore, it is important for those with this intention to contact Dr. Douglas Rutt. DELTO students may register with the seminary at any time during the first 10 courses, so that it is appropriate and advisable for students to do so now.

The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod has provided a Distance Education Leading Toward Ordination (DELTO) program for qualifying male candidates in special circumstances. This process has been replaced by the Special Ministry Program (SMP) which is developed in response to a resolution of the synodical convention in July 2007.

Candidates for the SMP distance program will be recommended by their District President and be considered vicars from the start. Among the entrance qualifications for SMP will be competency in seven ministry areas. While not required, it is strongly recommended that seven courses provided by MTC and LAP be the means by which these competencies are achieved. These seven courses will also form a core curriculum for district lay ministry and deaconate programs as was the case with the DELTO prerequisites in the past. These courses will also be offered for undergraduate credit by Concordia College NY.

The seven courses include The Christian Faith, Introduction to the Old Testament, Introduction to the New Testament, Christian Teaching, Lutheran Worship, Preaching and Missions/Evangelism.

The first three courses will require the candidate to take a competency exam, which will be administered as the final for the course. In the case of the other four courses, successful completion of the course itself will serve to meet the entrance requirement.

Each course is available on line from MTC or LAP for $150.00.
